Hello and happy october everyone!
It has been a hot minute, is anyone else feeling extremely exhausted from life?
I am currently in a period where I need to let myself be ‘good enough’. I have been trying to hold everything together physically and mentally in this past year and I am really over it. I find it hard to not be hard on myself, I am always in this state of ‘I could be doing more.’
I should be writing more, studying harder, working out consistantly, putting more intentional energy into my relationships, posting more and getting my writing out there- the list is literally infinite but I am also waiting for it to end.
For me the big part that comes from wanting all this is so then I can feel the illusion of being in total control of my life. I believe that we do have the willpower to change a lot of our life into what we desire, but theres always going to be that little bit of unknown.
I feel so silly writing this because this feeling is so widespread and obvious – ‘no duh, of course life is going to feel like that.’
I think its just important to continue normalizing and reminding ourselves that everyone is most likely struggling in one way or another, regardless of how they want to be percieved online or around other people.
I find it very easy (especially if I feel quite jealous of that person) to believe that the people I am seeing online is fully real and/or that their life looks a certain way all of the time.
But peoples lives are so different.
Everyone has different challenges.
Different privileges.
At different points in life.
There is no such thing as the right point in life.
‘Life is what you make it, so lets make it rock1‘ – Hannah Montana (2006).
‘Life sucks & then you’re dead’ – family member.
You just have to choose what narrative you want your story2 to be.
- I recently remembered the Hannah Montana tv show and its really carrying me through. ↩︎
- I really recommend this podcast called ‘The Florence Given Show’, it’s been helping me alot to work on my confidence & self esteem.
